17-days Women's Self Defence training concludes at Mount Everest College

With the objective to equip the women with the skills and confidence to protect themselves in any situation, a 17 days Women's self defence training concluded at Mount Everest College, Senapati today.
The 17-days self defence training for women commenced from April 1 .
Organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Women's Cell of the college, the lady students were trained in basic self-defense techniques, advanced selfdefense strategies, situational awareness and risk assessment and confidence building and assertiveness training during the program.
On the closing day of the program, a special demonstration from the trainees were showcased by the lady student trainees.
In the concluding remarks, Dr Roshan Shagolsem, Academic Dean of the college stated that women navigate a world that unfortunately is not safe in their daily lives.
While striving for a society, built on respect and equality, the reality is that instances of harassment and violence against women persist.
It is in this context that self defense training becomes not just a skill but a fundamental right and a crucial tool for personal safety and well being.
The Academic Dean urged all to take proactive steps towards personal safety and empowerment, urging them to begin the journey of empowerment together.
Briefing media, Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Coordinator stated that the event was organised by the Mount Everest College, IQAC, Women's Cell in collaboration with Directorate of University and Higher Education, Govt of Manipur from April 1-17, 2025.Over 80 women faculties and students participated in the training.
Over the past 17 days, the training witnessed a transformative journey of empowerment, confidence, and skill-building among the participants.
Such a program was stated to have equipped women with essential self-defense techniques, Legal Awareness and Supports, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Well being and strategies to navigate challenging situations.
This program has not only enhanced the participants' selfdefense skills but also boosted their confidence, self-esteem, and overall well-being.
The coordinator also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Directorate of University & Higher Education, Govt of Manipur, Combat Athletics Training Academy, Senapati (CATA), District Health Society, Senapati, One Stop Centre, Senapati, participants and students for their support in making the event a success.
