Legal awareness programme on Child Protection laws held at Hiyanglam

Kakching, February 16 2026:
As part of the nationwide 100-day intensive campaign on Child Marriage Free India, a one-day legal awareness programme cum quiz competition was held at Grace Reach Academy, Hiyanglam in Kakching district today.
The programme focused on key legislations including the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006, Child Rights, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 .
The awareness programme was jointly organised by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) and Kakching District Bar Association (KDBA), Kakching, under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) .
SDPO Kakching, Khundrakpam Hemabati (MPS) attended the programme as chief guest.
President of KDBA and Senior Advocate Nongmaithem Madhu served as functional president; while Elangbam Jugeshwor of Grace Reach Academy graced the occasion as guest of honour.
During the programme, which was attended by students and teachers of the institute, KDBA joint secretary, advocate Naorem Jameson Singh delivered an in-depth presentation on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.KDBA general secretary, advocate Taibangjam Geetdeva spoke on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, while KDBA vice-president, advocate Chongtham Manishwar elaborated on the topic of Child Rights, as resource persons.
A quiz was also conducted to assess students' understanding of the Acts discussed.
Students who answered correctly were awarded prizes as encouragement.
