A public meeting held at RNBA House, Langol on September 13 under the aegis of Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP) in collaboration with Action Committee Against Tipaimukh Project (ACTIP) has resolved to urge for constitution of a legislative review committee on the proposed Tipaimukh project, informed a press release issued by RLP.
The meeting attended by Zeliangrong village elders and representatives further resolved to oppose implementation of Tipaimukh project as the project would bring doom to Zeliangrong people an other communities.
It also resolved to endorse the movement to save the Barak (Ahu) river and Zeliangrong heritage sites, conveyed the release.
Another resolution adopted during the meeting was to oppose any attempt by the Ministry of Environment and Forests to amend Environmental Impact Assessment Notification 1994 without prior consent of the people including the elected representatives of State Legislature and the Parliament and other public organisations, it added.
