WMC flags fake statement

Imphal, May 15 2024: The World Meetei Council (WMC) has said that they have come across a disinformation campaign being carried out using the logo and obsolete letterhead of the Council in some Imphal based print and electronic media.

In a joint statement issued by its Manipur unit, Tripura unit and Myanmar federal unit, the WMC said that the Council is not related with the story published yesterday in the name of WMC with misleading content in some print and electronic media.

WMC will continue its movement to safeguard the State and her people under the guidance of its chairman Heigrujam Nabashyam, it said.

In another statement issued by its secretary general (CEC) Yambem Arun Meetei, WMC said that H Nabashyam will be the chairman of the Council until the appointment of a new chairman in the 2027 general conference of WMC.

It went on to state that WMC uploads its important information and statements on the website www.worldmeeteicouncil.com and the people and media may confirm if there is any doubt regarding the authenticity of the Council statement.
