Senapati observes World Oral Health Day with awareness programme

World Oral Health Day was observed in Senapati district with a series of awareness activities highlighting the importance of oral hygiene under the theme, "A happy mouth is...
A happy life".
The programme was organised by the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) under the State Health Society, National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur.
The campaign, which commenced on March 20, will continue till April 20, 2026.The inaugural programme was held at Bethany Higher Secondary School, Rikhumai Taphou, Senapati, where students and participants were sensitised on the importance of maintaining proper oral hygiene.
Emphasising the theme, resource persons highlighted the need to protect oneself from diseases of the oral cavity and maxillofacial region.
Participants were advised to brush their teeth twice daily - once in the morning and once before bedtime - as a basic preventive measure.
The programme featured awareness sessions, dental screening, treatment services, and a pledge-taking ceremony led by District Nodal Officer (DNO), Senapati, Dr Apwong Golmei.
Speaking at the event, Dr Golmei pointed out the lack of awareness regarding oral health among the public in the district, noting that a large section of the population suffers from dental problems and oral diseases.
Dr Cicilia also spoke on the importance of oral health awareness during the gathering.
The programme was attended by officials of the District Health Society, including Dr Hopeson and Dr Lucy, among others.
