Advanced heart failure treated at SKY Hospital

In yet another remarkable feat, Sky Hospital and Research Centre has successfully treated a 52-year old woman with advanced heart failure.
Majida, a resident of Sekmaijing, Kakching district, was brought to SKY Hospital on January 10, 2025 as Emergency with Advanced Heart Failure, Ischaemic Cardiomyopathy, Severe Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, Kidney Failure, Liver Failure.
Uncontrolled Diabetes, etc.
According to a release issued by SKY Hospital, emergency critical care was initiated and multi-organ supports were started to help the patient.
During the initial 2-3 days, her failing heart condition remained critical with very low Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction.
With 24x7 critical care, the patient's heart and other organs' function started to pick up.
Over the following few days, her vital signs continued to improve.
It may be mentioned that the patient had undergone treatment at Chandigarh, Guwahati and some other hospitals in Manipur in the last 7 years without any improvement.
After she was admitted at SKY Hospital, her heart function started improving slowly from 20.6% to LVEF=24.0% .
She started eating and drinking, mobilising and was discharged on January 22, 2025 .
Dr Shyamkishore Lairikyengbam, Chief Consultant Cardiologist who was the team leader of Heart Failure Clinic at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, Midland, United Kingdom from 2003 to 2007 led the SKY Heart Team treating Majida.
Dr Shyamkishore recalled that he treated many such British patients with severe heart failure during the period and learned how to best treat such patients with severe heart failure.
Dr Shyamkishore appealed to the people of Manipur to be aware that there is a hospital in Manipur which provides a British style standard of healthcare to the people of Manipur and other North-Eastern states of India cashless or at low cost.
