Gaan-Ngai 2025 : Rich cultural heritage of Rongmei Naga showcased in Delhi NCR

The Rongmei Women Cultural Dance Troupe (RWCDT) Delhi NCR successfully celebrated Gaan-Ngai 2025, a vibrant festival showcasing the cultural heritage and identity of the Rongmei Naga community.
Held on January 12, at the Nurses Residential Complex, Sri Niwaspuri, New Delhi, the event brought together members of the Rongmei community and friends from across Delhi NCR for an unforgettable celebration.
The event held under the theme "Our Festival, Our Identity", highlighted the richness of Rongmei traditions through cultural activities and performances.
According to a release issued by RWCDT Delhi NCR, the event commenced with Huay Kauhmei, featuring participants chanting "Ho-Ho-Ho" in a geometrical pattern, setting a lively tone.
Cultural dances (Kit Laam, Siandaih Laam) and a dynamic cultural fashion show captivated the audience, while interactive activities like Dingrian Laam (song and dance) fostered togetherness.
The celebration also featured musical performances by Lankhuingam (Napmu) John, folk songs by D Thongongthui, and Dimkulung Pamei (Sr Audit Officer, PDA- I&CA).
The event was graced by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Dr Marim Joice Gonmei, co-founder and Director of Faitheal Biotech; Regina Gangmei, Nursing Officer, Dr RML Hospital; Gaisangliu Gonmei, Gaan-Ngai convenor; Gaidunliu Phaomei, Head Staff & Guest Coordinator, Bridges Academy; Lucas L Kamsuan, Joint Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance; Rewankumar Singh, social worker; Th Tommy Monsang, Income Tax Officer, Ministry of Finance; Gainilung Panmei, Additional Legislative Counsel, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice; Rajen Kabui, Deputy Secretary, Department of Telecommunication, Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi; Benjamin Pamei, president, ZWAD; Ninthuigong Kamei, vice president, ZSUD; Kaphunjok Henry Gonmei, Chairman, Makaam Hospital & Research Institute; and Mathiuduan Kamei, president, RCPD.
Adding to the intellectual depth of the event, Angela Gangmei, Assistant Professor at Shyam Lal College (E), Delhi University, delivered an insightful speech on the theme.
A special entertainment segment, including Kala Chashmah performed by Regina Gangmei and Khangamlung Kamei, delighted the audience, while the evening concluded with the grand Pazeihmei, featuring the singing of the Pazeihmei song and dance.
