Imphal, September 14 2025:
Continuing its joumey of enhancing the unity and shared identity for the members, under Operation Sadbhavana, the National Integration Tour (NIT) organised by Assam Rifles reached a meaningful milestone in Shillong with a visit to Raj Bhavan.
As per a release issued by the IGAR (S), the 31-membercontingent - comprising 26 Civil Society Organisation (CSO) representatives from Tengnoupal district and five support personnel - was warmly received by the Governor of Meghalaya.
The interaction at Raj Bhavan reflected the spirit of inclusive dialogue and mutual respect that defines the tour's ethos.
The Governor lauded Assam Rifles for its sustained efforts in bridging communities and promoting national integration, particularly in the context of the Northeast's unique socio-cultural landscape.
Emphasizing the importance of civil-military synergy, the Governor highlighted the role of such initiatives in fostering long-term development, peace, and civic empowerment.
This engagement followed the contingent's earlier interaction with the Director General Assam Rifles at Headquarters DGAR, where discussions centered on infrastructural challenges and aspirations in remote areas of Manipur.
Together, these meetings have offered participants a rare opportunity to voice community concerns and witness the responsiveness of national institutions.
The day's itinerary also included visits to some of Shillong's most iconic landmarks.
From the panoramic vistas of Laitlum Canyons to the cascading beauty of Elephant Falls and the vibrant energy of Police Bazar, the group experienced Meghalaya's rich natural and cultural tapestry firsthand.
These explorations not only deepened their appreciation of India's diversity but also reinforced the emotional and cultural dimensions of integration.
The contingent concluded the day with an overnight stay at Lummawbah, marking the end of their Shillong leg.
