Sashastra Seema Bal: 62nd raising day and 60th anniversary of first training centre celebrated

Thoubal, December 13 2025: A joint event celebrating the 62nd raising day of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and 60th anniversary of the first SSB Coys Training Centre at Thokchom village, Thoubal was held today at Thokchom playground in Thoubal district.

The ceremony was jointly organised by Ex-Sashastra Seema Bal Personnel Welfare Association, Imphal (All Manipur SSB Pensioners Welfare Association) and Thokchom Youth Dynamic Association (TYDA).

Notably, Sashastra Seema Bal was founded in India in 1963 while the first training centre in Manipur (Thoubal) was established in 1965.Eminent dignitaries present at the event include H Tombi Sharma, former president, All Manipur SSB Pensioners Welfare Association and retd SSB Assistant Commandant; K Surjakumar, retd Deputy Commandant; M Ranjit, retd Assistant Commandant; L Jayanta Sharma, retd Assistant Commandant and K Bormani, retd Head Constable and members of Manipur SSB Pensioners Welfare Association among others.

As a part of the event, H Tombi hoisted the Sashastra Seema Bal flag in front of the SSB memorial pillar erected at Thokchom village.

The gathering also offered a floral tribute on the memorial pillar.

Speaking in this connection, H Tombi said that SSB was established on December 13, 1963 after the Sino-Indian War of 1962 to protect the border areas and to instill a sense of nationalism among the communities living in these regions.

He added that Sashastra Seema Bal Coys Training Centre in Thokchom was set up two years after the establishment of SSB in India.

On the occasion, he also conveyed his greetings and well wishes to the members of All Manipur SSB Pensioners Welfare Association.
