Bishnupur, July 13 2026:
The Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) has urged the Government to introduce a drug education and drug prevention curriculum for students of Classes V to XII in all Government and private schools affiliated to BOSEM and COHSEM.
In a statement, the federation said its Bishnupur District Committee submitted a memorandum to the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Bishnupur, seeking his intervention in pursuing the matter with the Directorate of Education (Schools) .
The MSF Bishnupur District Committee appealed to the ZEO to take the issue seriously and press for the inclusion of drug education in the school curriculum, along with the timely availability of textbooks, to equip students with knowledge on drug abuse and its prevention.
The federation maintained that introducing such a curriculum is essential for safeguarding students and promoting a healthy society.
It also warned that if the demand remains unaddressed, students from schools across Bishnupur district would launch a strong agitation in support of the demand.
