Aheibam Birendra Singh no more

Aheibam Birendra Singh alias Biren Lamba, founder member of Pan Manipuri Youth League (PANMYL) and trustee member of NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust, breathed his last on May 10, 2024 at RIMS Imphal after a prolonged illness.
He was 77 years old.
Born at Chingamakha Heirangoithong Aheibam Leikai, Birendra played a key role in the formation of PANMYL in 1968 at Guwahati University.
He is still remembered for his contribution to various activities for a unified Manipur and for consolidation of various streams of patriotism.
He served as Director, Arts & Culture, Government of Manipur as well as Chairman of Manipur Film Development Corporation.
He also served as chairman of North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur.
He also taught English Literature at Oriental College, Imphal.
He was also known for his acting in various political theatres, as a part of a new cultural revolution in the state of Manipur.
In separate releases, NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust and Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup (MACHA LEIMA) have expressed their profound condolence over the untimely demise of Aheibam Birendra Singh.
MACHA LEIMA and NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust also shared the grief of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
