10th Anniversary of BBBP celebrated at Kakching

Kakching, February 13 2025: The District Administration Kakching in collaboration with the District Programme Officer (DPO) Kakching, ICDS Cell, Kakching today organised programmes under the 10th Edition of the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" (BBBP) scheme.

As part of the programme, a plantation drive was conducted by the officials at Sekmaijin Gram Panchayat.

In another event, awareness programme on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act, 1994 was conducted at Sekmaijin Social Club Community Hall.

PC & PNDT Act, 1994 is one of the key elements under the BBBP scheme.

The scheme "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" which translates to 'save the girl child, educate the girl child' was launched on 22 January 2015 by Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The scheme aims to educate citizens against gender bias and improve the efficacy of welfare services for girls.

The scheme also aims to bring behavioral changes in the society towards the birth and rights of a girl child ensuring gender equality and women empowerment, prevent gender-biased, sex-selective elimination, ensure survival and protection of the girl child and encourage education and participation of the girl child.
