Farmers' Field Day on Rapeseed-Mustard held at Ithai

A "Farmers' Field Day on Rapeseed-Mustard" was organised by All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Rapeseed-Mustard, College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal at Ithai Barrage Community Hall under Kumbi Assembly Constituency in Bishnupur district.
The programme was conducted under the sponsorship of NEH Component of AICRP on Rapeseed-Mustard Scheme, ICAR-Indian Institute of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
It was attended by Director of Research, CAU Imphal, Dr Lalita Mohon Gamayak; Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal, Dr Ng Iboyaima Singh; Wangoo GP Ward no 5 member Irom Pocha Singh; Scientist of AICRP (RM), CAU Imphal, Dr Pushparani Senjam; and village elders L Kharnba and M Lukhoi as presidium members.
As part of the event, a community-based Custom Hiring Centre Oil Extraction Plant maintained by the Ithai Apunba Farmers Interest Group was also inaugurated and demonstrated to the gathering.
The centre is being funded by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Rapeseed Mustard Research, Bharatpur, Rajasthan, under the NEH Component of AICRP on Rapeseed-Mustard Scheme, CAU, Imphal.
During the programme, 50 tarpaulins, 20 battery-operated knapsack sprayers and 10 bee boxes were distributed to 150 farmers who are cultivating mustard on about 60 hectares of land under the scheme.
