Gaan Ngai celebrated at Sawombung

Imphal, January 12 2025:
The post-harvest festival of Zeliangrong community, Gaan Ngai was celebrated at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao, Sawombung Sairem Kabui Khun and Sawombung Duigaipangj ang Kabui Khun on Sunday.
The celebration was organised by All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) in collaboration with Thoubei and Pakhangphan of the villages.
The event was attended by elders of Thoubei, members of Pakhangphan, AMESCO president L Ibotombi, advisor IB Luwang, other members of AMESCO and people of Sawombung area.
Speaking on the occasion, L Ibotombi stressed on the need to uphold the traditions, culture and heritage preserved by the forefathers for the future generations.
He asserted that it is high time for all the communities who have been living together since time immemorial to stand united against any internal or external force threatening the integrity of Manipur.
Amuthoi, Thouburel of Sairem Khul's Pakhangphan, emphasized the history and bond between the Kabui and Meetei community which has existed since ages.
He said that all the indigenous communities must stand united to fight the internal and external divisive forces.
IB Luwang elaborated on the importance of mutual respect, understanding and cooperation between the communities which have been residing in the State since time immemorial.
He also urged the bigger communities not to disturb, disrespect and dishearten smaller communities.
Moreover, Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha; Sawombung ZP Member, Yumnam Ibohal; Sawombung GP, Chairperson, N Dhaneshwar; Khunbu, Maiten Rongmei; village elders Khoidum Kamei, Joy Rongmei and Rungaiphung Golmei were also present at the Gaan Ngai celebration held at Sawombung Duigaipangjang Khun.
