Senapati DC leads Sardar@150 Unity March to mark 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel

In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Mamoni Doley, led the Sardar@150 Padyatra-Unity March from the DC's Office Complex to the "I Love Senapati" point nearthe oldDC Office today.
The programme, organised by Mera Yuva Bharat, Senapati, in collaboration with the District Youth Affairs and Sports Department and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, witnessed the participation of around 300 people.
The Unity March began with floral tributes and the lighting of candles before a portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, honouring his legacy of national integrity, good governance and public service.
Addressing the gathering, DC Mamoni Doley expressed her delight in joining the padyatra on the historic anniversary and urged citizens to follow Patel's ideals of unity, integrity and discipline in their daily lives.
She highlighted Sardar's pivotal role in uniting the nation during the freedom struggle and called upon the diverse communities of Senapati to rise above differences and work collectively for an inclusive and peacefill district.
W Paulina Monsang, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat, welcomed the participants and emphasised the significance of the event.
She announced that the Unity March will continue in the district on November 14 at Maram as part of the ongoing commemoration.
She further mentioned that 150 youths from the State will be selected to participate at the Nationwide Unity March soon to be held at Delhi.
Dr Prasanta Leichombam, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Economics, Mt Pisgah College, TNK, spoke on Patel's life and philosophy, recounting his contributions to key movements including the Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, and Quit India Movement.
As part of the programme, the DC administered the Atmanirbhar pledge to participants.
She later distributed sports kits to 11 youth and students' organisations from various localities, including TNK, Emesiipfro, Taphou Onaeme, RTYSO, Quarter Colony, Maram Centre, Pouna Colony, Zaikarii, Makeng Chajing, Angkailongdi and Katomai.
The event was also attended by S Plim Reikheinamai, AC to DC, Ngaoni Panii SDC Senapati, district-level officers, representatives of Bharatiya Christian Manch, NSS volunteers and teachers.
