Kangpokpi, August 11 2024:
In the wake of Government's decision to remove 22 and 9 Assam Rifles from the Sadar Hills in Kangpokpi and Kangvai, Churachandpur, and replace them with another Central security force, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has announced "pre-emptive measures" in response to alleged "threats against the Kuki-Zo community" .
CoTU's decision to take "preemptive measures" is to protect the Kuki-Zo community from an alleged imminent "second wave" of violence, it said.
CoTU urged the community to remain vigilant, united, and refrain from inciting further animosity.
It said the Ministry of Home Affairs and the State Govt must bear responsibility for any untoward incidents.
