Hemam Nilamani's 114th birth anniversary observed, meritorious students felicitated

Moirang, July 10 2026: The 114th birth anniversary of eminent freedom fighter and former Deputy Director of Education, Hemam Nilamani Singh, was observed today at the INA Martyrs' Memorial Hall, Moirang.

Organised by the Hemam Nilamani Foundation, a charitable trust based in Moirang, the programme also featured the felicitation of meritorious students from Moirang Assembly Constituency who secured outstanding marks in the Class X and XII examinations.

Registrar of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur, Prof Khumukcham Tomba Singh attended the function as chief guest, while former Director of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Dr Hemam Priyosakhi Devi, presided over the event as functional president.

Head of the Department of History, Manipur University, Prof Chungmeijai Mathew MK, and former Head of the Department of History, Manipur University, and Vice-Chancellor of Khongnangthaba University, Prof Naorem Joykumar Singh, were the guests of honour.

During the programme, meritorious students from Government and private schools who excelled in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by the BOSEM and COHSEM were honoured with cash awards, mementoes and certificates in recognition of their academic achievements.

The dignitaries also released a book titled Hemam Nilamani: A Beacon for Moirang, a compilation of papers presented during the Statelevel seminar on Hemam Nilamani held earlier at Moirang College.
