MIT-MU inaugurates North East India International Conference

The Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipur University (MU) has inaugurated the Three-Day Northeast India International Conference on Innovation in Science and Technology, scheduled from December 9 to 11 at the Court Hall, Vice-Chancellor's Secretariat, MU.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Professor N Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MU as the chief guest, according to a statement.
The event was also attended by Professor N Basanta Singh, Dean, School of Engineering, MU; Professor NC Shivaprakash (retd), IISc Bengaluru; and Professor RK Hemokumar Singh, former Dean, School of Engineering, MU, as guests of honour and Professor Th Suresh Singh, Principal, MIT, as the functional president.
In his address, VC Professor N Lokendra Singh emphasized North East India's growing role as an emerging technological hub and highlighted the importance of academic exchange, interdisciplinary research, and innovation-driven problem solving.
He reaffirmed Manipur University's strong commitment to building partnerships and collaborations with academia and industry.
Delivering the keynote speech, Professor NC Shivaprakash stressed the significance of inter-institutional collaboration as a catalyst for innovation.
He noted that the conference serves as a platform not only for research paper presentations but also for networking and knowledge- sharing.
Professor N Basanta Singh outlined the conference's core objective: fostering a spirit of discovery and exploring AI-driven solutions for region-specific challenges.
He expressed gratitude to the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, for sponsoring the conference.
In his presidential remark, Professor Th Suresh Singh announced that the conference accepted 125 research paper submissions across eight technical sessions focusing on disaster-resilient infrastructure, smart cities, AI applications, green energy solutions, and various engineering disciplines.
The welcome address and vote of thanks were delivered by convenor of the conference Dr K Rambha Devi and co-convenor Dr Rajeev Rajkumar respectively.
Dr Sanabam Sujen Singh, Extension Officer (Seismology), Science & Technology, North Eastern Council (NEC) attended the ceremony as a guest of the event sponsor.
