Women Empowerment campaigns held in Kakching under SANKALP: HEW

An awareness campaign on the theme "Empowering Women through Higher Education, Vocational Training and Skill Development" was held today at PYNCA Shakti Sadan Home, Kakching Chumnang Leikai, under the District Administration Kakching.
The programme was part of the ongoing 10-day Special Awareness Campaign under SANKALP: HEW, which will conclude on September 12, 2025.The campaign was organised by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) Cell, Kakching in collaboration with One Stop Centre and Shakti Sadan Home.
The session was led by Ningthoujam Parango Singh, DPO/CDPO Kakching of the Social Welfare Department.
N Jashumati Devi, Instructor of Weaving and Embroidery, served as resource person and spoke on vocational and skill training provided to the residents of the Shakti Sadan Home.
She highlighted various hands-on learning opportunities and soft skills training aimed at building self-reliance and economic independence.
Sapam Linthoigambi, secretary of the Centre for Rural Upliftment Service (CRUS) gave awareness regarding the Shakti Sadan Home stating that it provides integrated relief and rehabilitation to women facing distress, trafficking and difficult circumstances where the distress women or residents at the home are given shelter, food, clothing, primary healthcare, counseling and vocational training.
Meanwhile, an awareness campaign on the theme"Legal Awareness for Women" was held at Tangjeng Khunou Community Hall in Kakching District under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching on Monday.
Ksh Sarankumari Devi, Penal Lawyer, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) gave awareness on constitutional and legal rights pertaining to women, also regarding the procedures and methods to access the legal systems.
She further gave awareness regarding Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 which safeguards women from physical, emotional, verbal, sexual and economic abuse within the home.
Prominent attendees included Khaidem Kenedy Meetei, secretary of Tangjeng Khunou Star Club; N Indibala Leima, former Chairperson Pagantabi Gram Panchayat; N Parango Singh, DPO/CDPO, among others.
