Chankorb Private Limited launches banana fibre products

With the aim to promote sustainability and economic growth in the region, Chankorb Private Limited on Sunday launched a wide range of innovative eco-friendly products made from banana fibres.
The product launching event was held at the Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal, North AOC under the theme, "Waste to Wealth" .
The event was graced by Pooja Elangbam.
Director, Tourism Department; Neeta Arambam, Joint Director, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change; and Prof Ch Ibohal Singh, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship & Skill Development, Manipur University as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Pooja Elangbam lauded the initiative taken by Chankorb Pvt Ltd to promote environment friendly products in the State.
She stressed on the need to promote such eco-friendly products which offer numerous benefits, including environmental preservation and cost savings, while also fostering a more sustainable future.
She asserted that Chankorb Pvt Ltd's innovative approach of converting banana waste into valuable products, will contribute to environmental sustainability and create economic opportunities for local communities.
"The use of naturally available banana plants for crafting biodegradable products, such as packaging materials, not only opens new economic avenues but also contributes to environmental conservation", she added.
Chankorb Pvt Ltd founder Dr Anupama Devi said that the products were launched with the aim to provide an environmentally Friendly alternative to synthetic materials.
She explained how these fibres will serve as a raw material for various handloom and handicraft products.
She also shared plans to make different products like paper from the leaves and other parts of the banana tree.
