Over 3,000 take part in "Run for Unity" in Churachandpur

CCpur, August 08 2026: More than 3,000 people participated in the "Run for Unity 2026" organised by Churachandpur District Police on Saturday under the theme, "Say No to Drugs, Choose Health, Choose Life, Together for a Safer, Stronger Society" .

The 10-km run was flagged off from Forest Gate Traffic Point, Tuibong, by Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar in the presence of Superintendent of Police Gaurav Dogra.

The run proceeded through Tedim Road via Lanva, Gangpimual and Pearsonmun before taking Tipaimukh Road, rejoining Tedim Road and culminating at Peace Ground, Tuibong.

Around 250 police personnel were deployed along the route for security and traffic management, while water points and token counters were arranged for participants.

In the men's category, Md Rahish Khan of Yairipok secured the first position, followed by Benjamin Seiminthang Baite of Panglian and Khulakpam Mustakim of Kwakta in second and third positions respectively.

In the women's category, Lhingdeikim Kipgen stood first, followed by Baby Veineiting and Hatneichan Haokip.

The winners received cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 for the first, second and third positions respectively.

The first 200 finishers were also presented commemorative medals along with participation certificates, while certificates were distributed to all participants.

Dignitaries and officials from the District Administration, ITBP and Police, besides local residents, participated in the event.

Around 80 per cent of the runners were in the 16-23 age group, with participants joining from Kwakta, Sangaikot, Singngat and other parts of the district.

The youngest participant was 12 years old, while the oldest was 63-year-old Telsing Ngamkhokhai.

The event aimed to promote health and fitness, spread awareness against drug abuse, strengthen police-public relations and encourage youth to consider a career in the police force.
