Khorilol Sandok Lup Wangjing celebrates 49th foundation day, honours literary contributors

Thoubal, June 08 2026: Khorilol Sandok Lup, Wangjing, celebrated its 49th foundation day on Monday at Khorilol Sanglen.

Wangjing, with the presentation of various literary awards to distinguished writers and contributors in recognition of their achievements and services to Manipuri literature.

The celebration was attended by Wangjing Tentha AC MLA Paonam Brojen as the chief guest while Tongbram Babulal.

Dr Yumnam Mahendrakumar, president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal, and Khundongbam Gunamani Leima, president of Ningol Khut Manipur, attended the programme as guests of honour.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Paonam Brojen lauded the contributions of Khorilol Sandok Lup towards the promotion and preservation of Manipuri literature and culture.

On the occasion, he announced that a literary award dedicated to the memory of his father and mother would be instituted during the organisation's 50th foundation day (golden jubilee) celebration to be held next year.

Several literary personalities were honoured with awards instituted by the organisation.

Dr RK Nirmalsana received the Dr Soibam Kumar Ningsing Sahitya Mana, while Moirangthem Dinakanta was conferred the Thokchom Amuba Shastri Ningsing Khorilol Mana.

The Ibotomba Sahitya Sebak Mana was presented to Tekcham Rameshwor, and K Sanahanbi received the Tekcham Kamini Kush Loidang Ningsing Khorilol Mana.

Dr Nayansana Rajkumari was honoured with the Moirangthem Kunjamani Ningsing Khorilol Mana, while Basanta Chongtham received the Narengbam Ibotombi Ningsing Khorilol Mana.

Each award comprised a cash prize, certificate and a traditional Lengyan.

As part of the celebration, the annual journal of Khorilol Sandok Lup, Wangjing, titled "Ethil", was also released by the dignitaries.

The programme was attended by literary enthusiasts, writers, scholars and members of the public.
