Imphal, August 07 2024:
Condemning the 10 Kuki MLAs for accusing the Home Minister of an "ethnic cleansing campaign" against their communities in a letter to the Prime Minister on August 2, the Meitei Alliance has urged the Kuki legislators to instead take up measures that could bring peace to the State.
A press release issued by the Meitei Alliance maintained that the letter challenges the Home Ministry's authority in internal security matters, such as the relocation of two AR battalions for counter-insurgency operations.
Stating that the decision to relocate the Assam Rifles was taken by military planners in the best interest of India's internal security, Meitei Alliance accused the Kuki MLAs of defaming and maligning the Home Ministry by saying he acted on the pressure of the Manipur Government.
The Kuki MLAs also questioned the efficiency of the CRPF, which will replace the two AR battalions, in a manner that amounts to portrayal of the force as a sectarian communal force deployed with a "sinister design" against their communities, it said.
It termed the Kuki legislators' accusations as defamatory, anti-National and derogatory.
