Lamp lighting & oath taking ceremony marks new beginning for nursing students

The lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of the 3rd batch BSc Nursing 1st semester (2025-26) students of Universal College of Nursing, Yairipok was held today at the college auditorium, symbolizing the formal initiation of the newly admitted students into the noble profession of nursing.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei as the chief guest; Universal College of Nursing, chairman Professor Dr Nimaichand Luwang as functional president; and Manipur University Controller of Examinations, T Shantikumar; Chief Nursing Officer of RIMS Hospital, N Ibemhal Devi; and Universal College of Nursing, principal Professor Th Nandarani Devi as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, DC Thoubal Hannah Kahmei highlighted the vital role nurses will one day play in serving humanity and contributing significantly to the healthcare sector.
She encouraged the students to uphold grace and humility while serving patients and treating it as their personal responsibility.
Professor Th Nandarani stated that the college, established in 2023 with 40 seats, is the only BSc Nursing institute in Thoubal District, affiliated to the Indian Nursing Council, Manipur Nursing Council and Manipur University.
She further noted that the Institute for clinical exposure and practical training has also been affiliated to RIMS Hospital, with the aim to provide high quality training and to produce competent healthcare professionals.
As part of the programme, dignitaries offered floral tributes to the portrait of Florence Nightingale, also known as 'The Lady with the Lamp', followed by the oath-taking ceremony administered to the 3rd batch students by Associate Professor Lily Rajkumari.
The event concluded with the felicitation of meritorious students for their outstanding achievements.
