12th International Sankirtan Day observed at Yairipok

Thoubal, December 04 2025: The 12th International Sankirtan Day was celebrated today at the auditorium hall of Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage (RCCH), Manipur located at Yairipok Bamol Leikai.

The event was jointly organised by the RCCH and Yairipok Sangeet Ashram Nata College, Yambem, in collaboration with Andra Kendra Development Organisation, Konthoujam Kulachandra Memorial Nam Sankirtan, Shree Shree Govindajee Nata Sankritan, Guru Sanaton Apunba Hari Sankritan Neinashang, Chaitanya Institute of Sankirtan, Nata Sankirtana Cholom Research Foundation, Guru Bira Nata Academy, Traditional Folk and Cultural Research Centre, and CYCA Khurai.

The programme was graced by Andro AC MLA, Th Shyamkumar as chief guest; RCCH Yairipok president Laikhuram Mani as functional president; and JNMDA Manipur Guru and secretary of the Celebration Committee, Meihoubam Seityaban and Guru of Traditional Folk and Cultural Research Centre, G Latasana as guests of honour.

As part of the observance, the gathering led by the dignitaries offered floral tributes to departed Nata Sankirtan Gurus, honouring and remembering their contributions to the art form.

The event featured a vibrant line-up of cultural performances showcasing traditional rhythmic art forms including Nupi Pala, Nupa Pala, Pung Cholom and Dhol Cholom.

The participating artistes were also felicitated with certificates and citations during the ceremony.
