RIMS observes World Bicycle Day, Genetic Clinic opened

As a part of Swachhta Action Plan 2024, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal celebrated World Bicycle Day 2024 at its premises on Monday.
The celebration was organised in collaboration with Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association, Doctors on Pedal, Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur Branch, The Ideal Club, Tera and Bicycle Mayor of Imphal, said a release issued by RIMS.
In connection with the celebration, a Cylthone was also organised with the theme, "Adopt Bicycle for a Clean Environment and Healthy Lifestyle" .
The rally was flagged off by RIMS, Imphal, Director, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma from the Jubilee Hall of the institute.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma elaborated on the benefits & advantages of cycling and added that it is a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation that not only reduces the carbon footprint but also promotes a healthy lifestyle.
He shared that cycling also improves cardiovascular health, muscle strength and overall fitness.
The Director also opined that the State Government should set up separate cycle tracks for the public with necessary safety measures.

Meanwhile, a new Genetic Clinic of RIMS OPD was inaugurated today by Prof G Sunil Kumar in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh and Dr Ch Shyamsunder Singh, Head, Department of Pediatric, RIMS, Imphal, The clinic will be functional on every working day starting from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm and will cater to the diagnosis & management of rare diseases which are genetically inherited.
The consultants of the clinic will be Prof Ch Shyamsunder Singh and Dr Smilie Ch, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, RIMS, Imphal.
Doctors, nursing officials and staff of RIMS, Imphal attended the inaugural programme.
