New Delhi, April 03 2010:
A two day national conference on 'media and law' has been inaugurated by the Delhi High court Justice (Retd) AP Sharma at the International Youth Centre, here today.
Being participated by over 50 journalists from across the country, Manipur is being represented by Editor of Ereibak daily Irengbam Arun, Noren Ningombam of The Sangai Express, N Nimolchand of Naharolgee Thoudang and Th Basanta of Huiyen Lanpao.

Deliberations of the two day session would focus on suppressive measures of the Government infringing on the freedom of press, harassment of scribes by security forces as well as on legislations concerning official secrets act, parliamentary privilege, sting operation, obscenity etc.
With legal experts taking part in the conference as resource persons, victim scribes from across the country would present their ordeals during the congregation.
On the first day today, Justice AP Shah released a souvenir entitled 'Freedom of the Press' published by the New Delhi-based Human Rights Law Network.
The conference is being co-hosted by Centre for Culture, Media and Governance of jamia Milia Islamia; Indian Federation of Working Journalists and UNI Employees' National Joint Action Council with support of Human Rights Law Network, Delhi.
