Faculty discourse on ongoing conflict in Manipur and its impact on people of Ukhrul district held

Ukhrul, October 01 2026:
A discussion programme on 'The wider consequences of Manipur's prolonged conflict, from governance and household economies to education, land and cultural life' was held at St Joseph College, Ukhrul, on Wednesday.
The discussion took place during a faculty discourse titled "A faculty discourse on the ongoing conflict in Manipur and its impact on the people of Ukhrul district", organised by the Department of Sociology of the college, said a press note by the college.
Faculty members from different departments presented their views on governance, the economy, education, environment and culture, while students from the Departments of Political Science, Sociology, Economics, English and Social Work attended and participated in the programme.
The programme was chaired by Sinawon Raising, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, while Yurkhanthing Shangchiri, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology, delivered the welcome address.
The faculty discourse also reflected the responsibility of an academic institution towards the society it serves.
Faculty members from different departments brought their areas of study into the discussion, while students had an opportunity to listen, question and reflect on problems affecting their communities.
