Tamenglong College celebrates 40 years of excellence

The "Year of Ruby, 2026" was inaugurated at Tamenglong College today, marking four decades of the college's existence and academic service since its establishment in 1986 .
The opening ceremony marked the beginning of a series of academic, literary, sporting and cultural programmes scheduled to be held from September to December 2026.Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr Kinthuijinang Maremmei spoke at length about the history of Tamenglong College, recalling the circumstances surrounding its establishment and tracing its journey through four decades.
He maintained that from its humble beginning, the institution has steadily evolved into an important centre of higher education in the district, playing a significant role in the educational and social development of the region.
He went on to state that 'The Year of Ruby' is conceived not merely as a celebration of the past, but as an occasion to acknowledge the contributions of generations of students, teachers, staff and well-wishers while looking ahead to a brighter future.
The four-decade milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on the institution's achievements, challenges and transformation over the years, he said.
It may be mentioned that a core committee has been constituted with a dedicated team of faculty members to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the celebrations.
The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of planning, coordinating and successfully executing the various programmes under the Year of Ruby celebrations.
A vibrant series of events has been lined up from September to December 2026, including marathon, games and sports, literary meet, cultural programmes and several other academic and extracurricular activities.
These programmes are aimed at providing students with platforms to showcase their talents, creativity and sporting abilities while encouraging participation, camaraderie and a stronger sense of community.
The celebration is also envisioned to extend beyond the college campus.
With the participation of local communities, the Year of Ruby seeks to strengthen the relationship between the institution and the people it serves.
