Airports Authority of India celebrates 28th Annual Day

Imphal, April 01 2023: The 28th Annual Day of Airports Authority of India (AAI) was celebrated today at the Air Traffic Services Complex, Imphal International Airport, with enthusiasm by the employees during a simple function.

Airports Authority of India was constituted by an Act of Parliament and came into being on 1st April 1995 by merging erstwhile National Airports Authority and International Airports Authority of India.

The merger brought into existence a single organization entrusted with the responsibility of creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure both on the ground and air space in the country, said a press note by AAI, Imphal.

Chipemmi Keishing, Airport Director AAI Imphal International Airport read out the Chairman's message on the occasion.

It may be noted that the main objective of the observation which is a part of the function held at all AAI airports and its establishments across the Nation is to promote camaraderie and team spirit among its employees.

In his address to the HoDs and the employees, Chipemmi Keishing underlined the importance of "sincerity, dedication and work ethics" towards the achievement of the mission and vision of the organization in general and improvement and development of Imphal International airport in particular.

With the remarkable increase in passenger traffic and the increasing number of flights at Imphal International Airport, he emphasized on the development of Imphal International airport and called upon all stakeholders to complete all the ongoing project like construction of new Integrated Terminal building, construction of new Integrated Cargo Terminal building and Hanger, expansion of turn pad for accommodating Boeing 777 at Imphal airport, improvement of passenger services and replacement and commission of the new Instrument Landing System and DVOR at Imphal International airport, in a time- bound manner.

Playing of the theme song of Airports Authority of India marked the opening of the observation of the day to inspire the feeling of brotherhood and unity amongst the employees.

It is worth mentioning that the Airports Authority of India is a Mini Ratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India.

AAI manages 137 airports, which include 24 International Airports (including 3 International Civil Enclaves), 10 Customs Airports (including 4 Customs Civil Enclaves), 80 Domestic Airports and 23 Domestic Civil Enclaves at Defence airfields.

AAI also provides Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) over the entire Indian Air Space and adjoining oceanic areas with ground installations at all Airports and 25 other locations to ensure safety of Aircraft operations, added the press note.
