TYCM convenes public meeting

The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, convened a public meeting on February 1,2025 at Tarung Community Hall.

According to a release issued by TYCM, the meeting addressed several critical issues affecting the tribal community, with particular focus on the delay in conducting Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) elections; non-recruitment for vacant posts in the Directorate of Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST), and Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Ltd (MTDC); creation of Director post by framing of Recruitment Rules (RR) for Direct Recruitment of Director, Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur, as a departmental post; regularization of 9 contractual employees in the MSCST for the stability and continuity of their services, which are vital for the smooth functioning of the commission; and cancellation of two nominated MSCST members on December 26, 2024, made without due advertisement or invitation for applications.
The house unanimously endorsed the issues and decided to convene the next meeting in February 2025 to continue discussions.
Representatives from various organizations, including the Imphal Naga Forum (INF), Tk Moshilpha (ex-candidate of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly-2022), leaders of tribal civil society organizations (CSOs), youth clubs, intellectuals, and social workers were present at the meeting.
