Kangpokpi Forest Division distributes tool kits and equipment to VDVKs

Kangpokpi, November 30 2025: In a major step towards strengthening tribal livelihoods, the Kangpokpi Forest Division distributed tool kits and equipment to Kanjanga VDVK and Buning-Haraothel Mini TRIFOOD unit under Van Dhan Vikas Kendra Scheme at T Khullen Community Hall today.

The function was graced by Anurag Bajpai, PCCF & HoFF and ACS (TCI & Transport), Government of Manipur as the chief guest.

VDVK (Van Dhan Vikas Kendra) and the Mini TRIFOOD units are components of Government initiative led by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) and the TRIFED agency aimed at improving the livelihoods of tribal communities through value addition to Minor Forest Produces (MFPs).

Mini TRIFOOD units, established in collaboration with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) under the PMFME scheme, serve as upgraded versions of the VDVK model.

The Department has already completed advocacy and a two-day training programme on Value Addition of MFPs (Minor Forest Produces) for Kanjanga VDVK.

The training included various aspects on food processing, handling, production and marketing techniques.

Buning and Haraothel VDVKs were both registered and have been functional since 2019.Both VDVKs were clubbed together to form a MiniTRIFOOD unit and their machines were upgraded to scale up the activities of the existing VDVKs by providing enhanced and upgraded processing facilities and machinery to produce high-quality, market-ready processed food products.

Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Bajpai stressed on the importance of such a scheme as VDVK especially for the women folk who are the backbone of the society.

He congratulated the VDVK members and encouraged them to join hands and work hard to make the scheme a grand success.

The function was also attended by Arun RS, CF/Northern Circle, as the functional president and Gaithaolu Thaimei, CCF (T-II) cum Nodal Officer, TRIFED; Shokhongam Baite, ADM; and Lamminlal Simte, AC to DC as guests of honour.
