Shut down affects normal life at Hatta

Imphal, August 29 2026:
A total shutdown has been imposed in the Hatta Golapati area following an incident in which several people were reportedly injured in a firing incident on the night of August 26 .
The Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed in connection with the incident, had announced the shutdown demanding appropriate action against Md Wahidur, an accused in the case.
Following the JAC's announcement, people came out early morning today at various parts of Hatta Golapati to enforce the shutdown.
Protesters burned tyres and blocked roads, while shops and business establishments remained closed.
The shutdown severely affected vehicular movement, with vehicles unable to proceed beyond the Hatta Golapati area, causing inconvenience to the public.
Imphal East Police deployed preventive measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
No major untoward incident had been reported during the shutdown as of the time of reporting.
