Imphal, January 29 2026:
Even though Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed at Dibrugarh tonight on a two-day visit to Assam, it is not clear whether Amit Shah will meet Kukis MLAs from Manipur during his visit to the neighbouring State.
After halting this night at Dibrugarh, Amit Shah will inaugurate several projects/schemes and lay foundation stones of many others on Friday morning.
He would also address a public rally at Dibrugarh.
After the event at Dibrugarh, the Union Home Minister will travel to Guwahati but it could not be confirmed whether he will meet Kuki MLAs from Manipur at Guwahati tomorrow.
Nonetheless, some BJP MLAs and key leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh said that the Union Home Minister may talk with Kuki MLAs tomorrow on the formation of a popular Government in Manipur.

However, some other BJP MLAs/leaders maintained that they did not have any definite information whether the Union Home Minister will meet Kuki MLAs at Guwahati tomorrow or not.
Meanwhile, sources said that the Kuki MLAs have not been given any appointment with Amit Shah till the time of filing this report.
Notably, Manipur Legislative Assembly was placed under suspended animation and the State was brought under President's Rule on February 13, 2025 for a period of six months.
After the expiry of the initial six months, President's Rule was extended for another six months, and the latest term is set to expire on February 12, 2026.If the term of the PR is not extended further, either the State Assembly must be dissolved or a popular Government must be reinstalled before the expiry of the current term of six months, sources said.
On the other hand, many Central leaders have been hinting at the return of a popular Government in Manipur before the expiry of the current term of PR.
Even though any meeting between Amit Shah and Kuki MLAs at Guwahati tomorrow could not be confirmed, some six-seven Kuki MLAs have already landed at Guwahati, said the sources.
Another source said that the Kuki MLAs went to Guwahati at the invitation of the Union Home Minister for a meeting on Friday.
According to the source, the Kuki MLAs may hold a meeting with Amit Shah tomorrow evening on the formation of a popular Government in Manipur.
At the same time, some BJP MLAs and key leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh have exuded confidence that a popular Government would be reinstalled in Manipur in the first week of February 2026.The Union Budget scheduled to be tabled in the Parliament on February 1 may not reflect the budget of Manipur.
Instead, a popular Government may be reinstalled in Manipur and the Government may table its own budget in the State Assembly, said the source.
