RIMS conducts health camp for CCI children, lauds students' blood donation drive

A Mega Multidisciplinary Health Camp was organised by the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS, in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit, Imphal West, Department of Social Welfare; Government ofManipur at Rural Women & Children Development Welfare Association, Taobungkhok, Imphal West on Friday.
The camp was held under the aegis of Indian Society of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) for children residing in various Child Care Institutions (CCIs) of Imphal West District.
A team of specialists from Paediatrics, Dentistry, Dermatology and Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) participated.
Comprehensive medical and oral health screening was carried out for around 90 beneficiaries and necessary dental treatments were provided.
The dental team provided preventive and therapeutic services including oral hygiene instructions, topical fluoride application, pit and fissure sealant application and extractions.
Medicines and toothbrushes were also distributed.
Appropriate referrals were made for further evaluation.
Meanwhile, under the leadership of Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, students of RIMS have been actively participating in voluntary blood donation programmes every month.
The initiative has witnessed enthusiastic participation from students.
Appreciating their gesture, the Director said voluntary blood donation is one of the simplest yet most meaningful ways of serving humanity and a single donation can save lives.
He appealed to citizens of Manipur, particularly youth, to come forward for voluntary blood donation, stating that blood cannot be manufactured and its availability depends entirely on donors.
