Legal sensitisation programme on POCSO Act held at Aimol Khullen

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel, under the joint aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), organised a legal sensitisation programme on the topic "Duties ofReporting Offences under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, 2012" at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Aimol Khullen village in Tengnoupal district on Thursday.
The programme was conducted as part of the "Surakshit Bachpan, Surakshit Bhavishya" awareness campaign under the National Legal Services Authority's JAGRITI Scheme 2025.The sensitisation programme began with an opening prayer by Ennei Aimol, Teacher of KGBV, followed by a welcome and introductory speech delivered by Neithang, Headmaster of the school.
Speaking as the resource person, Kshetrimayum Sarankumari, Panel Advocate of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority, briefed the participants on the provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012 .
She highlighted various offences covered under the Act and explained preventive measures aimed at ensuring child safety and protection.
The resource person also emphasised the duties and responsibilities of school authorities, parents and students in reporting offences related to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
During the programme, participants were also sensitised about different points of contact for assistance and reporting, including District Legal Services Institutions, Village Legal Aid Clinics, Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Boards and One Stop Centres.
Information regarding important helpline numbers such as 15100 for National Legal Aid Services, 1098 National Child Helpline and 181 Women Helpline was also shared with the participants.
The programme was attended by the school administration, parents and students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya.
