AMDDA flags Dalit poverty, poor education

Imphal, April 28 2026:
A delegation from the All Manipur Dalit Development Association (AMDDA) met with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Lok Bhavan today to submit a memorandum regarding the welfare and upliftment of the Dalit community in the State.
During the meeting, a six-member delegation led by AMDDA president Dr TM Rajen Ayangba highlighted several critical issues facing the community.
The delegation expressed concern over the extreme poverty and lack of basic amenities faced by many Dalit families in the region.
They urged the Government to improve educational facilities and provide better opportunities for Dalit students to ensure a brighter future for the youth.
The memorandum pressed for proper implementation of central schemes and State-level recommendations to safeguard the rights and interests of the community.
AMDDA also raised the State's current situation and asked the Governor to ensure safety and security for all citizens, especially vulnerable groups.
The Governor heard the delegation's grievances and assured that he would examine the points and take them up with the relevant authorities for necessary action.
AMDDA leaders thanked the Governor and expressed hope that the State Government would take proactive steps to address the community's long-standing demands.
