Sea Waves Manipur appoints new office bearers, releases poetry collection

Sea Waves Manipur has appointed new office bearers during its general body meeting held on December 2 7 at Bijali Leikol Eco Park and Open-Air Auditorium in Itam Nungoi Khunou, near Sawombung Kabui Khul, Imphal East.
A collection of poetry titled 'The Wild Garden' by Professor Damodar Laishram was also released on the occasion.
As per a press release, new office bearers were nominated to lead the organization during the proceedings.
The newly appointed team consists of veteran writer Phurailatpam Brajamuhini Devi as the president, Ningombam Satyabati as the vice-president, Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh (Shamu) as the secretary, Dr P Rajendra Singh as the joint secretary, Yaima Haoba as the treasurer and Sanasam Sengoi Singh and A Bijita Devi as executive members.
Former secretary Professor Sadananda Singh presented the annual report, tracing the group's journey since its founding in 2003 .
He reiterated Sea Waves Manipur's mission to motivate local writers writing in English by publishing at least one book annually, thereby showcasing Manipuri literary talent on the international stage.
He also recalled the titles published by the group over the years: Beyond (2004), Torrents (2005), Crystals (2006), Thunder (2007), Delta (2008), Wind in Reeds (2009), Sobbing (2010), Untrodden Lane (2018), Peewits (2019), Moth (2021), Forlorn (2024) and Flicker (2025) .
The meeting also announced 'Falcon' as the title for the next 2026 edition, scheduled for release on May 1, 2026 .
Dr Moirangthem Priyobarta Singh and Thoithoi O' Cottage will serve as chief editor and editor, respectively, for the forthcoming issue.
The function was presided over by the outgoing president of Sea Waves, JK Luwang, while H Chura Singh, founding member of Manipur Literary Society was present as the chief guest and former president of Sea Waves, Y Indira Devi, and member, Professor Ng Iboton Singh as guests of honour.
Established in 2003, Sea Waves Manipur is a literary society dedicated to promoting and publishing works in English by writers from Manipur.
