National level Summer Theatre Festival kicks off

Kakching, July 27 2024:
A 4-day National level Summer Theatre Festival kicked off at the Library and Information Centre Kakching community hall today.
The theatre festival is organised by the Liberty Theatre Kakching under the sponsorship of the Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Theatre artiste from four theatre groups one each from Mumbai and West Bengal and two from Manipur are participating in this National level theatre festival.
At the starting of the inaugural function, the attendees observed one minute of silence in the honour of the conflict martyrs of Manipur.
The inaugural function was graced by Deputy Commissioner Kakching Rohit Anand; Writers Association Kakching President P Nimai and Director of Chauanpore Suhird Berhampore, West Bengal Haraprasad Das as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Kakching DC Rohit Anand lauded Liberty Theatre Kakching for organising the theatre festival to promote the theatre artform.
He maintained that the theatre festival will help in soothing the disturbed minds of the people of the region who have been affected by the prevailing conflict in the State to some extent.
He stressed that such festivals should be organised in other parts of the State as well.
As the first play of the festival, the artistes of Suhrid, Berhampore of West Bengal performed a play titled "Tota Kahini" written by Rabindranath Tagore and directed by Haraprasad Das.
