The Untiring Woman to be screened at Nagaland CineFest

Imphal, February 27 2025: The Untiring Woman, a documentary film by Amar Maibam and based on former Indian footballer Oinam Bembem Devi will be screened on March 1, 2025, the second day of Nagaland CineFest.

The Nagaland CineFest is a film festival organised by the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Nagaland in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and National Film Development.

The film revolves around how young and energetic Oinam Bembem Devi chased her goal of becoming a footballer despite the resistance from her father.

At fifteen, her journey rose to a dreamy height when she marched in the field with an Indian jersey in 1995.Since then, there was no looking back for her.

After playing for more than two decades for the country, she is now coaching the Manipuri women's team.

Her mission is to retain the Senior National Championship title once again.

The film follows the gritty spirit of a woman that is lit up by the power of determination.

Amar Maibam is an Indian Filmmaker and Cinematographer from Manipur.

He was born in Imphal and started his career as an assistant to his filmmaker father late M A Singh.

Amar was drawn more into independent filmmaking because of the creative freedom to tell stories of the human experience.

He made his directorial documentary debut with City of Victims (2009) based on the extra-judicial killings in Manipur.

His latest film Highways of Life produced by Films Division won the best film awards at the Liberation Docfest 2020 in Bangladesh, best Indian documentary at Kolkata International Film Festival 2020, Cinema of Resistance Award at 14th Signs Film Festival 2020 and Indian Panorama at 51st International Film Festival of India.

He is now doing post production for All for My Sister, a documentary on celebrated weightlifter Khumukcham Sanjita and her brother fighting for justice on her doping scandal and another biopic on Indian footballer Oinam Bembem Devi titled Bembem-The Untiring Woman produced by Films Division.
