Imphal, November 26 2010: Candidates who applied for the post of LDC/Record Clerk in JN Institute of Medical Sciences, but were rejected during the course of form submission procedures have threatened to launch agitation in case the matter is not accorded due importance by authorities concerned.

Speaking to newspersons at Manipur press Club today, convenor of JAC LDC/Record Clerk JNIMS Sh Imojit said while application of 1300 candidates have been approved to appear in the written test, application of 4700 others had been rejected for reason only the Institute authorities seem to know.

The convenor explained that an advertisement for recruitment of 26 post of Record Clerk/LDC/Coding Clerk along with details of emolument was published on February 1, 2010 wherein six and three seats were reserved for ST and OBC categories respectively.

Moreover, essential appointment criteria such a 10+2 passed or its equivalent from a recognised institute, typing speed of 30 words per minute and operational knowledge of computer were also mentioned in the advertisement, he stated.

Based on the conditions laid down about 6000 candidates applied for the posts out of which Board of Secondary Education, Manipur listed only 1300 candidates as eligible for the written test, Imojit maintained.

He further contended that at the time of form submission candidates were told by staff manning the form submission counter that certificates relating to computer and typing knowledge could be produced at the time of interview/viva voce and as such many of the candidates retained custody of the said documents.

As some among the spurned candidates enquired as to why their candidature had been rejected they were informed that it was due to submission of forms without complete documents.

Blaming incompetency of JNIMS authorities for the candidates denied a chance to appear in the written test scheduled for November 28, Imojit demanded that all those who applied for the specified post be allowed to participate in the appointment exercise failing which boycott agitation would be launched at the time of written test and interview.

The convenor also informed that when plight of the rejected candidates was intimated to JNIMS authorities by a JAC delegation, the Director outrightly rejected the appraisal.

He also added that a memorandum on the matter had been submitted to the Chief Minister on November 16 for intervention and necessary action.
