CAU, Imphal hosts workshops on 'Seed Certification' and 'Silk Dyeing Techniques'

Imphal, March 26 2026: The Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, inaugurated two significantprogrammes today to advance seed quality, law enforcement, and sericulture skills in Manipur and the NEH region.

A three-day workshop-cum-awareness programme on "Seed Certification and Seed Law Enforcement in NEH Region" kicked off at the College of Agriculture (CoA), drawing 35 officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) departments.

The inaugural function was attended by dignitaries, including Thaithuilung Pamei, Commissioner (Agriculture, Horticulture, and Soil Conservation), Manipur; Prof Indira Sarangthem; Prof K Nandini, Dean, CoA; Dr LM Gamayak.

In a concurrent event, a two-day hands-on training on "Scientific Natural Silk Dyeing and Yam Extraction Process" began at CAU, organised by the Directorate of Research under ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai.

Running until tomorrow, it engaged sericulture professionals from across Manipur.

Key attendees included Dr Ng Iboyaima Singh, Dean, College of Food Technology and Director of Extension Education; TR Sharma, Registrar; Dr T Shantibala, Deputy Director of Research; and Dr LM Gamayak.

These programmes underscored CAU's role in equipping stakeholders with practical expertise for sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods.
