Sit-in protest staged against 'suspicious death'

Locals of Waikhong staged a sit-in protest demanding swift justice in connection with the allegedly suspicious death of Laimayum Devdutta.
Notably, Devdutta's lifeless body was found buried under a layer of straw in a paddy field located at Leimaram Loukol under Nambol police station on Saturday.
The sit-in protest held at Waikhong Keithel, Kakching was organized jointly by Waikhong Keithel Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and various clubs of the locality condemning the mysterious death of Devdutta.
Speaking at the protest, Asem Chaoba said that Laimayum Devdutta, who is reportedly also a member of Arambai Tenggol Unit 9, left home on November 22.Unfortunately on the following day, police officials informed the family members that his dead body was found lying in a paddy field at Leimaram Loukolunder Bishnupur district, said Chaoba.
She claimed that the death of Devdutta is highly suspicious, therefore the concerned authority should book the culprits involved in the alleged killing of Devdutta and dole out appropriate punishment as per the law.
If the authorities fail to meet the demands of the people, more stringent agitation will be launched, added Chaoba.
