Imphal, July 25 2021: There is no respite from the scourge of Covid-19 pandemic and the state on Sunday reported 13 death cases and 1207 new positive cases out of 8327 samples tested registering a positivity rate of 14.50 per cent.

The spike was a little lower than that of Saturday, which recorded 1198 new cases with a positivity rate of 16.95 per cent along with 14 deaths.

Meanwhile, the average positivity rate for the current month has come down to 15.60 per cent from 15.67 per cent on Saturday.

The active caseload has reached 10,581, out of which 4635 (43.80 per cent) are in home isolation, 3051 (28.83 per cent) in CHICs, 1851 (17.49 per cent) in CCCs and 1044 (9.87 per cent) are admitted to different hospitals.

Among the patients admitted to hospitals, 142 patients are in ICU/HDU wards, 439 on oxygen support and 52 on ventilator/NIV support.

At the same time, 102 patients including a minor are on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Saturday night, 57 beds are available in government hospitals, 70 in private hospitals, eight in LF School Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 145 in district hospitals & CHCs, and 1318 in different CCCs.

According to official report, the 1207 new cases include 1203 people (581 male & 622 female) from among the general population and 4 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (43), JNIMS (84), District Hospitals (822) and other testing centres (258) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal Fast (294), Imphal West (325), Thoubal (106), Bishnupur (99), Kakching (58), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (105), Chandel (44), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (40), Tengnoupal (17), Kangpokpi (54), Kamjong (4), Pherzawl (1), Jiribam (14) and Noney (28).The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 13 Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours but did not disclose their age and gender.

The district wise casualties are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (2), Chandel (2), Tamenglong (1) and Churachandpur (1) .

Five of them had received the first dose of Covid vaccine while the remaining eight were unvaccinated.

Six victims did not have any co-morbid conditions.

The cumulative number of deaths in the state has reached 1478 .

In the last 24 hours, 864 patients were discharged from home isolation (315), RIMS (2), JNIMS (7), CCCs (229) and CHICs (311).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 92,667 (general population - 88,701 and CAPF personnel - 3,966).Number of recovered cases is 80,608 (general population - 76,711 and CAPF personnel - 3,897) and number of active cases is 10,581 (general population - 10,517 and CAPF personnel - 64).The recovery rate is 86.98 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 2221 D-type and 395 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

A total of 30,667 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 10,29,436 including 1,65,300 who have got their second shot of Covid-19 vaccine.

So far, the state has reported 63,267 positive cases and 1104 deaths during the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month witnessed addition of 22,877 new cases and 328 fatalities out of which 7845 new cases and 102 fatalities were reported in the last seven days alone.

Meanwhile, report from DSO Kakching said that the fatality count in the district due to Covid-19 has reached 99 with one more death on Sunday.

On the other hand, 49 new positive cases were detected out of 164 samples tested from Saturday 2 pm to Sunday 2 pm in the district registering a positivity rate of 28.15 per cent.

Four cases were detected at Ema Hospital, seven at Jivan Hospital and 38 in different government RAT sites.

One of the patients is from Thoubal and another from Imphal East while the remaining are residents of Kakching district.

As per DSO Kakching report, the cumulative number of infected people has reached 5213 on Sunday out of which 4471 have been discharged and 99 have died while the active caseload stands at 643 .

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (31,398), Imphal East (20,740), Thoubal (7857), Churachandpur (7820), Kangpokpi (2224), Tamenglong (2655), Bishnupur (6487), Senapati (1679), Ukhrul (1663), Kakching (5138), Chandel (1700), Noney (753), Tengnoupal (930), Jiribam (910), Kamjong (540) and Pherzawl (173).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (512), Imphal East (353), Thoubal (133), Churachandpur (127), Kangpokpi (46), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (137), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (88), Chandel (27), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 29,864 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,516 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,37,949 tests per million population against the national average of 3,27,234 TPM.

Case fatality rate reduced to 1.59 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 8327 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.50 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.84 per cent.
