Imphal, June 25 2009: A reception function was hosted in honour of the newly election MP of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Thangso Baite at block ground of Saikul headquarters yesterday.

Hosted jointly by Kuki Inpi Saikul and KSO Saikul, the reception function was attended by MLA of Saikul Assembly Constituency Doukhomang Khongsai among other prominent public leaders.

Speaking at the occasion, Thangso Baite assured that he would take up all the developmental works in consultation with public leaders.

Informing the gathering that the development fund of the MPs would be released through the MLAs after consultation with the Govt on the required developmental works to be taken up, Thangso Baite stated firmly that the habit of siphoning off fund without execution of work should be stopped.

On the developmental programmes and policies being taken up by the Centre, the MP noted that although NREGS is launched initially for five years it has been extended for another five years with Congress Government returning to power for the second term.

Since the Centre and the Kuki UG groups have signed SoO, public should stay alert on what steps should be taken up in this regard.

Taking advantage of the occasion, Kuki Inpi Saikul and KSO Saikul also submitted a memorandum to the MP for construction of a multipurpose sports complex at Saikul.
