Torch rally in Yairipok demands justice for killings, condemns violence

Strongly condemning the April 7 Tronglaobi incident and the killing of two Tangkhul civilians in an ambush allegedly carried out by Kuki militants, residents of several upper villages in Yairipok staged a torch rally on Wednesday evening, demanding justice and immediate action against those responsible.
The protest saw participation from residents of Phanjakhong, Chandrakhong, Malom, Ningel, Pitra, Leirongthel, Mayai Keithel, Horton, and Kakmayai.
People belonging to Meitei, Naga, and Meitei-Pangal came together in a rare show of unity to denounce the incidents.
Protesters marched in large numbers and gathered at Mayai Keithel, raising slogans such as "We Condemn Killing of Children", "We Condemn Killing of Civilians", "We Condemn the Act of Terrorism", "Long Live Manipur", "Protect the Territorial Integrity of Manipur".
During the protest, representatives from different communities strongly condemned the violence and urged the Government to take stringent action against those involved.
They demanded that the perpetrators be identified and punished at the earliest.
They also asserted that any movement or agitation launched in connection with the incidents would receive collective support from the local women, particularly the members of the area, underscoring the unity and resolve of the people in seeking justice.
