Senapati, April 22 2026:
Student organisations across the Naga community have strongly condemned the killing of two civilians at TM-Kasom village, along NH-202 on April 18, terming the incident a grave violation of human dignity and the sanctity of life.
In a press release, the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), denounced the "heinous and barbaric attack" on innocent civilians, which resulted in the loss of two lives.
The body stated that such an inhumane act against unarmed individuals is deeply disturbing and constitutes a gross violation of human dignity, fundamental rights, and the sanctity of life.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, AKM conveyed its deepest condolences and described the tragedy as not only a personal loss to affected families but also a collective loss to the entire Naga community.
"This cowardly act of violence is a direct assault on peace, security and harmonious coexistence among our people," the statement read.
The AKM urged the concerned authorities to initiate an immediate, impartial, and thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.
Meanwhile, the Angami Students' Union (ASU) also condemned the incident in the strongest terms.
The union termed the killings a horrific tragedy and a serious affront to the right to live in peace.
The ASU asserted that the right to life and security is non-negotiable and forms the foundation of any civilised society.
It emphasized that violence undermines shared security and threatens the collective harmony of the Naga people.
It called upon the concerned authorities to ensure that justice is served with transparency and urgency.
