Cabinet expansion likely shortly after CM's return from Delhi: MLA Th Arunkumar

The State Cabinet is likely to be expanded soon after Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand returns from Delhi.
Following this, the Government will be able to put better focus on developmental works, said Wangkhei Assembly Constituency MLA Thangjam Arunkumar.
He made the remark while inspecting a cleanliness campaign conducted in the vicinity of Citizens' Club at Soibam Leikai, Wangkhei Khunou in connection with Yaoshang sports set to begin from March 3.The campaign titled "Cleanliness MLA Trophy" has been consistently organised year after year sponsored by the Wangkhei AC MLA of the time in areas under the jurisdiction of Citizens' Club.
Teams divided into Marjing Pana, Thangjing Pana, Koubru Pana and Wangbrel Pana compete for the title.
This year, the campaign was launched yesterday, kicking off the cleanliness drive.
MLA Th Arunkumar personally inspected the cleanliness efforts and lauded the four "Panas" for their stellar work.
According to the Wangkhei AC MLA, the new Government led by Yumnam Khemchand has initiated steps to improve roadways and drainage systems in Manipur.
Pointing out a challenge in this endeavour, he spoke about the shortage of labour.
Bringing labourers and raw materials is a huge obstacle owing to the prevailing situation in the State, said the MLA.
Blacktopping work on the Citizens' Club road will begin today and be completed in time for Yaoshang.
Wangkhei Khunou roads will also be blacktopped, he maintained.
On another note, he said it is an individual's responsibility to keep a locality clean.
Lauding the Citizens' Club's campaign, he said other local clubs should emulate their exemplary step.
Meanwhile, Citizens' Club president Mahendra Naorem said that Meitei society was once known for its cleanliness.
Now, every street is littered with garbage.
This not only spoils the scenery but is hazardous for public health.
As a result, Citizens' Club launched the "Cleanliness MLA Trophy" campaign in 2019.The top three winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively, said Mahendra Naorem.
