Puya Mei Thaba commemorated

Bishnupur, January 22 2025: As observed every year, the 296th Puya Mei Thaba Ningsing Kumon, was observed today at Keinou Lam Ahingba Lampak, Bishnupur district.

The commemoration programme was jointly organised by the International Observation Committee on Puya Mei Thaba (ICOP) Kangleipak, Laining Inat Kanba Lup (LAIKAL) Keinou and Lam Ahingba Thougal Lup, Keinou.

The commemoration that began with a flag-hoisting ceremony at half-mast was attended by Retd Chief Engineer, PWD Manipur, Yumnam Joykumar, ICOP Kangleipak, vice-president, M Naodalenkhomba, MEELAL, president Kh Ingocha, ICOP Kangleipak convenor, M Naokhomba, MSSLC, president, Ph Gunachandra Sharma, AMRPSWA president, L Joy Khuman, United Muslim Women Development Organisation, president, Anwari Nurjahan, Laininghal Naoria Phullo Charitable Trust, secretary, Okram Suren and MNF Kangleipak, advisor, Namoijam Tomba as presidium members.

As part of the programme, the annual Maichou Ningshing Award was presented to Retd Headmaster, Kh Chaoba Angom of Keinou and Chingmee Tammee Nungshi Khudol Award was presented to Dr K Hira Kabui of Kabo Leikai, Imphal East.

Later a Shumang Kumhei related to Puya Meithaba was also showcased and presented.
