RIMS wraps up month-long World Oral Health Day 2026 campaign

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal concluded its month-long World Oral Health Day 2026 campaign on Monday at the Dental College, marking the fourth consecutive edition of the initiative.
According to a release issued by RIMS, the programme has steadily expanded its impact on public health awareness in the region.
The valedictory event was attended by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; RK Mecolt Singh.
Deputy Director (Admn); and Dr B Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College.
Speaking at the event, Prof Sunil Kumar said the MDS inspection is underway and expressed optimism that new residential facilities would come up by next year.
He underlined RIMS' role in public health, linking oral hygiene to overall well-being and urging students to focus on prevention and early detection.
Dr B Praveen Reddy said the month featured wide community engagement.
Over 40 IEC posters were displayed across districts and interns conducted seven awareness sessions.
The Director and Medical Superintendent flagged off a walkathon on April 18 and a cyclothon on April 20.Students took part in wirebending, reels-making, slogan writing, soap carving, and selfie contests under the theme "A Happy Mouth, A Happy Mind".
An online thesis training programme covering all 16 districts was also launched in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Manipur.
The campaign extended beyond campus with more than 10 dental screening and treatment camps, school exposure visits, and oral hygiene demonstrations for children.
Awareness talks were broadcast on television and radio to reach a wider audience.
RIMS attributed the programme's success to the combined efforts of its administration, faculty, staff, and students.
